Ideas . Debate . Progress

Backchat is The Afiya Trust’s new social networking portal to facilitate national and regional debate, news and campaigns primarily driven by community groups, service users and survivors. This online interactive forum will form part of our presence on Facebook and Twitter, will inform our future campaigns and events and enable community groups to have an online presence beyond their locality.

Join in the debate: Backchat

Participants will be asked to register as organisations or individuals to access and contribute to the various pages.

News

We will feature local, regional and national news that cover our main work areas such as mental health, long term conditions, NHS and policy developments and the impact of the government spending review. Your news will be essential to this section.

Networks

The work being carried out by Afiya’s many networks will feature as well as how you can get involved.

Debates

With so much change happening in health, adult social care and the voluntary sector it is important for what isn’t as visible to be discussed. If you have a topic that you would like to see us address, then please let us know. The first debate will be on the government’s spending cuts and the health and forthcoming white papers.

Campaigns

This section will list campaigns The Afiya Trust is currently part of and leading on and will tell you how to get involved. It will also enable you to highlight any campaigns happening in your locality.

Events

If you are organising, or are aware of any events that tie into health, adult social care and wellbeing, please let us know. They can be put on our events page.

Community

If you are an individual or community organisation working in BME health and social care you can highlight your work and any issues you're facing at a local level. We are also looking for profiles of community organisations, volunteers and other individuals to share their work, goals and successes.

The Afiya Trust is a national charity that works to reduce inequalities in health and social care provision for people from racialised communities. Find out about the local and national networks we support. We liaise and work with central government departments and policymakers to ensure the BME perspective isn’t lost. Visit Our Work, Policy and Campaigns sections to find out more.
